Looking For Bead Lace/Weaving Books.
Q: I'm new to this list and to beading. I've been beading on and off since I
was a child, but my passion for beads recently turned into my newest
obsession. I'm looking for some books to teach me and show me patterns for
beaded lace and netted beading and weaving techniques. I'm not a huge fan of
the loom, I have one and stringing it turns me off of using it - sorry to
all of your bead loom lovers.
A:
I am doing this in a hurry, so i don't have the address, but go
to 'Bead and Button' magazine online and ask for the address of a place
selling a book called "Beanile Lace", and get url for 'The Moscow Bead Club'.
They gave this to me. Hold your breath, because this sounds like it
is your cup of tea. Their stuff is beautiful!
You migh
t also go to 'Copper Coyote' on the web, and look over their books. They
give a little information about each book so you can get an idea what it will
cover before you buy. They also have one of the most comprehensive lists I've
seen.
I think everyone here will agree that 'Carol Wilcox Well's' "Creative Bead Weaving"
is one of the best all-round beginning-off loom books. It doesn't have any
chain or wire work info, though. For a more general overview, I think 'Carol
Taylor's' "Creative Bead Jewelry" is the best. The "Beanile Lace" book someone else
mentioned, and one on 'Picot Lace' are 2 of the very few on that style.
You may also want to check 'Laci's' for books related to these topics.
Here's the link:

then click on "Publications"
This is a very slow loading page on my system due to 'Laci's' extensive
book selection, but is well worth a look.
